We ran a practical Workshop on Novel Methods for Early Detection of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) that took place at Cardiff University on the 18th of September. This activity was part of the dissemination activities of the AQUAWALES Research Cluster (http://www.nrn-lcee.ac.uk/aquawales) funded by the Sêr Cymru National Research Network for Low Carbon, Energy and the Environment initiative (NRN-LCEE) and focussed on increasing citizen participation in the prevention of the spread of AIS in collaboration with the Universities of Swansea, Cardiff and Aberystwyth, the Wye & Usk Foundation, Natural Resources Wales, Cardiff Harbour Authority and our industrial partners (FishGen, Pontus Aqua and SkillFish).

As part of National Invasive Species Week, postgraduate students from the Aquawales & Aqua-Invaded research clusters are going to be holding 2 talk sessions for staff and students on Monday 29th February 12-1 and 2nd March 12-1 at Swansea University.
These sessions will include:
1) Some background on invasive species
2) Introduction of the Crayfish Count citizen science intitiative
3) Short film on Irish Fisheries' invasive species
4) Q & A session with postgraduate students
